Jared, the wise cracking meta human, is a close friend and an early ally to James and company. He possess the ability to generate red electricity from his body to stun or render his foes unconscious. He is able to turn himself into an electrical current. Despite having red lighting generating from his body, it's skin starts to emulate faint red lighting currents visually.

Jared believed he had gotten his abilities during a storm, when he was hit by red lighting during a thunderstorm. Unknown to him, this awakened his abilities inside his body. He hid himself and didn't use his abilities until later on when he tried to stop a robber who tried to drive away in a car, shocking the car and shutting it down.

When he heard about The Green Samurai, he wanted to meet him, eventually joining up with him on various adventures, including the trip to Japan during the crisis they were having. He wears a red hoodie/cloak and wears red sport glasses and dubs himself Red Lighting.
