Joey Simons is a vigilante who design a suit to look like a giant robotic bug. He used the suit as a joke and to impress his daughter, and soon eventually became inspired to fight criminals using the suit, only to end up getting crippled permanently. Despite his inability to move, he gave the suit to his son (Tomas Simons), who became the new Bug Bot.
