| |
− | The Legend of Zelda: New Beginnings also known as Fusion Gate or Adventure of Link II, takes place a few days after Majora's Mask. Link stumbles unsuspectingly to a land known as Novos Orsa, which acts as a bridge between Hyrule and Termina. Link's problems get bigger as he later learns about a dark Artifact from the Twilight Realm that has placed the good and the bad in a wild goose chase to collect the broken Artifact. Before trying to head back to Hyrule, Link meets counterpart named Sane who explained a bit more about the true power of this artifact and his theory of how it was created. After this Link accompanied Sane and those who seek the Artifact in order to rid Orsa those who trouble it. Unaware to Link and the others, a group known as New Aged Dark Interlopers (NADI) is also seeking the artifact, using it to break a curse of their so called leader known as Macellrius, a young prisoner of war from the Twilight Realm.

The jewel was transferred to Novos Orsa and shattered about. Twilit refugees spoke of this jewel, causing some to wonder and go search for it. This has created some people to go against others to seek out this dark power and claim it as their own.
| |
− | The only known person to have the jewel, well in Link’s eyes, is Sane, who contained the small bits of dark energy from corrupting him. Sane informed Link that the jewel can be used for good instead of evil, and asked Link to seek out the other jewels for him. Despite Sane’s agenda, Link himself wants to figure out how ominous the jewel truly is due to hearing it is from the Twilight Realm.

| |
− | The powers NADI had given Riku rapidly expanded his mind, revealing in him being a bit more sinister and dark each encounter.
| |
− | Seeing that Riku himself is also a bit human in a sense, he developed an interest for Zula, where he had his on lackey corrupted her trying to have her turn on her people, but backfired. Riku later on stuck to kidnapping people for Shad to build his army.

− | Shad was deemed "The Dark Figure". He was spotted when Mobi was taking his prisoners to the underground, with Link included. Spotted by Kafei and Skull Kid when the figure was accompanying Sakon, and finally spotted by Gemmy and Kaza, at this point, Shad was confronted by and fought with Gemmy.
| |
− | Gemmy himself revealed later down the road, that Shad is able to make weaker copies of himself to perform tasks, resulting in the easy fight with Gemmy being victor.
| |
− | However, from Shad's traveling he was able to have Dark Link, who was a slowly forming manifestation of Link's darker self and the kidnapping of The Happy Mask Salesman, after the events of Majora's Mask.
| |
− |
| |
− | '''Shad's Origin'''
| |
− | It is unknown of who Shad is, however, bits of information was that he was the son of one of the knights. Prior to the war, he had an interest in the Twili race and decided to go with a Twili warrior by the name of Kora, who wanted to see if the mirror is still there. During the journey, Shad found a fragment and kept it to himself, hiding it from Kora, thinking he would destroy it and not research it. The two managed to get to the mirror only to be kidnapped by NADI minions and taken to the other side. They were taken to Dark Moon Tower and got separated, the minions took Kora to a different section, probably to try experimenting on him, as for Shad, he was placed before Magnus, who ran as second command for Macellrius. He notice the fragment that Shad had, and tried to kill him for it, only resulting in the fragment effecting Shad, driving him insane. Magnus brainwashed Shad, and trained him over the months. Shad even picked out his own weapon, the sychte, and decapitated his foes, or those who fought to the death to prove worth to Magnus. Soon, Shad researched the dark arts of the Twili and learned new abilities as making shadowy clones of himself, teleporting without use of the mirror and so on. As for the tortured Kora, he planned a project with Magnus, turning the poor warrior into the monster called Okari. Later on, Shad traveled other parts of the world, using the alias Shawn. What he did was gather geological information of an area and where to have a mirror constructed once Macellrius is free, however, he had a run in with a few people and kidnapped them, resulting in finding Dark Link in his journey. Shad escaped to Termina to recover, seeing that overuse of his power weakens him, he spots the Mask Salesman and sees him as a threat, he confronted the shocked Salesman and punched him until he passed out. This resulted in him finding Majora's Mask and taking it back to Magnus.
| |
− |
| |
− | Shad took Magnus' position and was given the task to seek the other fragments after proving his worth. Later NADI went to war with those who wanted to bring down the mirror and the fortress that Shad had built. NADI had been pushed back into the mirror, however, Shad came in with Magnus and company to rid those who fought against them. Even though Okari had been lost, Shad killed many in the battle, including his father, who he had decapitated, even saying that Magnus was more of a father figure to him. The forces of light retreated, same for NADI, who had to re built their forces.
| |
− | As for Shad, he had sent out some of his agents to influence others into getting all of the fragments to free The Butcher.

After the battle against them, and the sealing of Okari, a man named Shad reconstructed a fortress months after the battle, safeguarding the Mirror of Twilight, and using small fractions of it's power to move groups of his own to do his bidding. This Fortress also serves as a lab, a prison and a dark shield, keeping the fragile mirror hidden away.

The Mirror operations can only take the user to Orsa and the Twilight realm and back at this point, but it seems that NADI plans to use it to go to other areas once their leader is cursed free, probably their plan was to destroy and conquer Orsa, and preferably other areas too, such as Hyrule, seeing that several high officers of NADI sought revenge against Hyrule for throwing them into the barren realm to begin with.

Link and Gemmy agreed to help Sane, however, they had mixed feelings about the rumors about this jewel. Despite aiding Sane in his resolution, Link and Gemmy had come up with a backup plan to destroy the Artifact once and for all, after learning of what it is capable of doing.
